What is GreenTree?

GreenTree Community Inclusion Programs Inc. is a provincial social service agency. We provide planning, coordination, administration, and supervision of various types of supportive programs for individuals with diversabilities in the province of British Columbia. Our teams engender positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among employees and provide a psychologically healthy and safe space. The agency ensures that staff are trained, supported, and guided to achieve the best possible standards of practice.

What’s our story?

GreenTree has been in business for over 18+ years and is owned by second-generation caregivers that saw room for improvement within the social service sector. We are a diverse team of working professionals and our services are offered across the Province of BC. Currently, our services are concentrated throughout the Okanagan and Northern BC regions. Expansion of services includes the Kootenays and Vancouver Island. We specialize in complex medical needs and the transition of youth to adulthood. We offer both short-term and long-term services to a wide variety of ages that have varied from 6 to 77 years of age. With nearly 2 decades of experience, we have the ability and expertise to provide quality care and programs for people with diversabilities.

We are simply people serving people.

Who is eligible and how do you access services and funding?

Any BC resident with diversabilities may be eligible to access our services and programs. To request access to the services we offer, you must contact your local social services office. You would need to speak with an intake social worker. This may be any of the following;

  • Child Protection social worker – MCFD
  • CYSN social worker (children/youth with special needs) – MCFD
  • Resource social worker (they work directly with agencies) – MCFD
  • Facilitator social worker (they work with families and person served) CLBC
  • Analyst social worker (they work directly with agencies) – CLBC

These are a few common types of social workers you may be requesting services with. It is important to note that funders have a responsibility to an open and fair vetting process when recruiting the services of an agency. Even if GreenTree is specifically requested, funders are required to explore any and all alternative options.

The programs we offer are typically NO COST to the individual with a referral from the youth/adult social worker. Wait times do apply and a contract with MCFD and/or CLBC is required to be in place before services can begin.

What are the required credentials for our team?

Any staff member working within our organization is required to go through a government third-party screening process called the HUB. The HUB ensures that any staff member working with vulnerable youth/adults has passed provincial and federal screening. Historically, this has been a requirement for just youth programs but we have applied this same standard to any of the adult services we offer.

All support workers require a minimum 2-year relevant diploma or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioural and other needs. Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (trauma-informed practice).

For Social Workers/Funders

Who do we provide services to?

We specialize in complex medical needs and the transition of youth to adulthood.

We offer both short-term and long-term services to a wide variety of ages that have varied from 6 to 77 years of age. With nearly 2 decades of experience, we have the ability and expertise to provide quality care and programs for people with diversabilities.

We pride ourselves on being one of the few agencies established to assist individuals with emergency support services that extend across the province. On numerous occasions we have supported the province during emergency situations and we will continue to do so in the future. Finding solutions in complicated situations is what we do best.

What type of services does GreenTree provide?

To meet the needs of our communities and the individuals we support, we offer 3 main services through our programming:

Specialized Long-Term Care
Provides a safe and nurturing environment for children, youth or adults in-care that require higher supervision and support.

Emergency Care
Supportive short-term placement for individuals who cannot live safely with their family or for whom no other care arrangement is readily available.

Respite Care
For families, foster parents, or homeshare providers caring for individuals with complex needs who could benefit from a temporary break from the emotional and physical demands of caregiving.

Can we provide an estimate for services?

We can provide a proposal for services which would either include a costing tool or funded guided template. A proposal for services does not guarantee a time for services to commence or a commitment to engage in services until both parties have discussed and agreed on the terms of service. Currently, our services are concentrated throughout the Okanagan and Northern BC regions. Expansion of services includes the Kootenays and Vancouver Island.
